Keepsake box

So a few days ago, I stumbled onto a post on Amy Rysavy's blog of a keepsake box that she made for a friend. I had been eyeing the cool boxes that she used to make it with at Michaels, but didn't really have any idea of what to do with it. Amy's was so cool that I decided to make one for Jaden. These boxes are 12x12 with a 13x13 lid. To start with, I used a foam brush to paint the entire box with some Chocolate acrylic paint from Making Memories. After the paint dried I used modge podge to adhere this awesome paper from Cosmo Cricket onto the lid. I had to use my brayer to get all the bubbles out of the paper. After that was dry I added another layer of modge podge to seal the paper.

Next I used the All Mixed Up cartridge from my new Cricut machine to cut out the title "Jaden @ 5" from some Chocolate Chip cardstock. I ran the letters through my xyron and then adhered it to the lid. To finish up the lid, I coated the entire thing with 2 more layers of modge podge.

For the insides of the box I took another piece of the Cosmo Cricket paper and used some sticky strip to adhere it inside. The 12x12 paper fits just perfectly inside. Along the sides I added some 1 1/2" strips of another design of Cosmo Cricket paper and a couple of layers of modge podge.

I really love this box, a BIG shout out to Amy for the inspiration! Maybe I'll make another one now for all the little things I have saved from when Jaden was born.

Pretty petals for my pretty boy...

I had a job to do...create a 12x12 layout for my stamp club that showcased the great SU! special this month, and do it using up some of the millions of photos I have left over from the "pre-digital era."


This is the results. This layout was created by using everything from the Spring mini special from SU! and the new "Doodle Alphabet." I actually really like how it turned out and am pretty impressed with my mish mosh pages. I titled it

Pretty funny huh? Well hopefully I will have some new goodies for you tomorrow!

I think I'm obsessed

with A*Muse stamps and the dual ribbon bow. I was just thinking about how many times I have used the both of them in the last two weeks, lol. I picked up this cute dinosaur stamp by A*Muse last week. He's a cutie huh?

Anyhow, he was stamped on Shimmery White cardstock in black Stazon and then colored in with a Prismacolor pencil and blended with gamsol. The scallops were cut out with my new Cricut (the Mini Monograms cartridge). I then used my white Signo gel pen to dot the scallops...see I'm obsessed with it too, lol! **wink**

The card base is Tempting Turquoise stamped with the Flannel Plaid BG stamp in Whisper White craft ink. I mounted the scallops onto the base with some dimentionals and then tied the turquoise grosgrain and white wide organdy ribbon along the side using a piece of pewter hodgepodge hardware. To finish the card off I stamped the congratulations from Warmest Regards on the bottom in black Stazon.

This card just seemed to say baby to me, but I guess it could be used for any congratulations type event since the color is pretty universal. Well, that's it for today!

Funky monsters

Aren't these guys hysterical? The monster stamp is one that I picked up unmounted at a stamp expo a month or so ago. Unfortunately I can't remember who made it. I'm searching though, and will be sure to let you know when I figure it out.

I stamped them on 3 types of the new SU! Petals designer paper and then on a sheet of Whisper White. I cut out one little guy from each of the designer papers and then adhered them on top of the one on the white sheet. Then I took my stampin write markers and colored in the rest of them. I mounted this on a small piece of Pretty in Pink cardstock.

The card base is Taken with Teal cardstock, and then I used a piece of the Petals paper and my slit punch to make the scalloped edge. To finish off the scallops, I used my paper piercer and white gel pen to faux stitch around the scallops.

The image was mounted on the card and then I used my new favorite sentiment "Have a Magical Day" from A*Muse in Rose Romance craft ink on the bottom corner.

This card was kind of time consuming, but it was super fun!!

Doodle heaven

Ooh my new doodle stamps finally arrived today. I love this little set. Doodle That is a set of four stamps and is only 12.95! Quite a bargain in my opinion.

The flowers are stamped on Whisper White cardstock with Basic Brown ink and then colored in with Stampin' Write markers (Cool Caribbean, Rose Romance) and a blender pen with Cool Caribbean reinker. I mounted this on some Cool Caribbean cardstock and then faux stitched around the edges with my signo white gel pen. I dotted the centers of the flowers with some icicle stickles. The card base is Mellow Moss cardstock stamped with another doodle stamp.

To finish this baby up, I added some of the cute ribbon that I got myself for my birthday last month. **wink** Pretty easy little card, the coloring was the only time consuming part (but it was fun!).

Ok, aren't these just the cutest stamps? Jeeze I really need to stay away from the stamp store. I picked these little goodies, and a couple more on Tuesday. Both are from A*Muse and are both A*dorable, heehee.

This card measures 4 inches square. The cardbase is Pink Passion stamped with the Paisley Print BG stamp and the scalloped circle is Lavender Lace. I stamped the princess on Whisper White cardstock in Black Stazon and then colored her in with prismacolor pencils and gamsol. After I finished, I went in and used my Sakura stardust pen to glitter up the crown and wand. Then took my signo white gel pen to add the doodles to each of the scalloped edges.

To finish the card up, I tied some wide white organdy and some orchid grosgrain ribbon around the side. I added a little charm that I picked up somewhere to the knot with a small piece of hemp. The sentiment was stamped in black stazon, and that was it!

Fun huh?

How cute are they??

Ever take one of those pictures that is just screaming at you to be scrapbooked? I took this shot at one of Jaden's little buddies 5th birthday party. Don't they just look like they are having the best time??

I haven't worked on Jaden's book for a couple of months, and just now realized how behind I really am. This picture is pretty motivating for me though, maybe I'll get some scrapping done this week...who knows?!

Shore do love this set

Don't you? The image is stamped on SU!'s watercolor paper in Black Stazon. Then I colored it in with reinkers and an aquapainter. I mounted it on a small piece of Tempting Turquoise cardstock and then on a larger piece of Sahara Sand cardstock that I stamped the shell and starfish on. The I distressed the edges with my Sahara Sand inkpad, and added crystal effects to the sand and the crab's eyes. To sparkle it up a little more, I sprinkled some Dazzling Diamonds glitter into the crystal effects on the sand.

I took my new round tag punch and added a Cranberry Crisp tag on the left side, and used my stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the sentiment "Shore do love you" in Whisper White craft ink. I mounted the whole piece on the cardbase that is Cranberry Crisp cardstock stamped with the Flannel Plaid background stamp.

To finish up the card, I took some linen thread and sewed little "X"'s on the corners. Cute huh??

Does this ever happen to anyone else??

I swear! It takes a week to clean the stamp room, and only 2 projects to totally mess it up again...grrr I hope I'm not the only one that this happens to, although I'm pretty sure I'm not *giggle*


Oh well, I just wanted to let you all in on a little secret...I'm a total messy stamper. I mean, ridiculously messy. Oh well...I'm gonna try and get my table uncovered and stamp something, lol.

Ahoy Mateys....

I just got these in the mail today! I did a trade for this Ahoy Matey stamp set with another demonstrator on SCS last month and they FINALLY showed up today.(But that is a whole 'nother story lol)

The little pirate was stamped on watercolor paper with black stazon. Then I used reinkers and an aquapainter to color him in. (always artichoke, bravo burgundy, so saffron and going grey) After that I took my Basic Black Stampin' Write marker, colored in his eyepatch and then used some going grey ink to watercolor him a little ground to stand on. The sword was a little dull looking, so I dabbed on some crystal effects and sprinkled some Dazzling Diamonds glitter.

The card base is Always Artichoke stamped with the Weathered background stamp. On top of that I added a strip of Basic Black cardstock stamped with the little map looking stamp in Whisper White craft ink. I mounted these on the card base and then stamped the Ahoy Matey sentiment on the bottom corner in black stazon.

To finish up the card I tied a piece of burgundy ribbon around the cardbase and knotted it around a pewter ribbon slide from my Hodgepodge Hardware set.

The 12x12 page...

Is finally finished. This step was actually really easy. All I did was adhere the 8 1/2 x 11 page to a 12x12 piece of Certainly Celery cardstock.

Next I cut two 3x3 squares of Barely Banana cardstock and stamped them with the Canvas BG. I punched the corners with the Ticket Corner punch and then mounted them on the page. To finish it off I took a small piece of French Blue grosgrain, tied it in a bow and adhered it between the two squares. So, what do you think? I like it...

Cow's it going??

I picked up these little guys on my mono shopping trip yesterday. How cute is this saying? "Cow's it going?" bwahahaha!

The cardbase is Cool Caribbean cardstock stamped with the Dotted bg stamp. Then I mounted a piece of the uber cool Phoebe paper from Basic Grey. The little cow from A Muse was stamped in Black Stazon on Whisper White cardstock and then colored in with reinkers and an aquapainter. I mounted him on the scalloped oval frame that I punched out of Rose Romance cardstock with my mega marvy scalloped oval punch.

To finish the card up, I took my paper piercer and Signo white gel pen to dot up the scallops on the frame, mounted this onto the card with some dimentionals, and then stamped the oh so adorable sentiment on the bottom with black Stazon. A quick and easy five minute card.

Joyful chick

OMGosh I am just loving this little chick...gosh I am going to have to try really hard to stay away from the stamp store, lol!

This is a 4x4 square card. The base is Bashful Blue stamped with the Paisley Print background stamp from Stampin' Up. I stamped the chick image from A Muse onto some Whisper White cardstock in Black Stazon and then colored him in with my Stampin' Write markers. I punched this out with my small tag punch and then mounted it on a piece of Crate Paper (the backside of this pattern) that was punched with the larger tag punch. Next I used my crop-a-dile to set a Bashful Blue eyelet in the top and then threaded a piece of blue gingham and celery narrow organdy ribbon through. I tied them in a knot and then mounted the tag on a small piece of the Crate Paper.

The card still needed something so I used my slit punch and created this scalloped frame out of a few scraps of Certainly Celery cardstock. To finish up I stamped the sentiment "joy" from the Stampin' Up set Small Script (Last year's hostess set) in Basic Black ink under the little tag.

What a cute little baby chicken huh?

Progressive scrapbook page grows...

to 8 1/2 x 11 today....I wasn't sure what I was going to do with this, but I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.

The main sheet is Brocade Blue. I took the Brocade Blue ink pad and sponged the edges a bit. Then I added a piece of the Sarah designer series paper, which is the same paper that I used on the photo corners. Then I mounted yesterday's 6x6 page on top.


It still felt like it needed something, so I punched out a couple of circles from a sheet of Certainly Celery cardstock, folded them in half and adhered them on the bottom edge of the page. I took my 1/8th inch punch and punched a hole in the center of each. To finish them up, I tied a small piece of white wide organdy and french blue grosgrain through each circle.

Hopefully I will get this finished up into the 12x12 tomorrow and have the 6 of them finished by Monday.

Wanna' see what I got??

Tee hee hee!!!! I was in a shopping mood today, and they put in a new bridge that makes the drive to the stamp store WAY faster...so naturally I had to go, lol.

Here are all my goodies....first I found these adorable A Muse stamps...just love 'em I got Chick Delivery, Cow, and the saying "Cow's it going?" Is that not the cutest thing you've ever heard? lmao!

I also got some waterfall stickles,the prettiest rhinestone brads, the cutest brads that look like buttons, some super cute little clippie things, some pretty bottles to put them in.

I also got this great new Heidi Swapp book and some great papers from Crate Paper, Basic Grey, and Cosmo Cricket. Isn't that paper in the back awesome? It is from the new Basic Grey line "Scarlet's Letter" I just love it...it reminds me of my little brother for some reason, lol.
